01Who we are

This website is run by Dr. Varshith Reddy, the founder of Placebo Markets. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act), Dr. Varshith Reddy is the Data Fiduciary for personal data collected through this website.

This notice covers the website only. The Placebo Markets app will use Google sign-in to identify your account. The app’s own privacy policy, covering what it stores and why, will be published at launch.

02What we collect

Only what you type into one of our two forms, kept to the minimum:

• Beta form: your email address and which description fits you best (trader, investor or beginner, student, educator, other).
• Educator pilot form: your name, an email address for replies, your institution, role and city, the approximate number of students and your preferred term.

03Why we collect it

Beta form: to send your beta invite and short emails about the beta. Your description helps us invite a balanced mix of people.

Pilot form: to reply to you and plan a classroom pilot.

We process this data only with your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box. The box is never ticked for you.

04What we do not do

The website stores nothing in your browser: no cookies and no local storage. It has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, no social media widgets, and loads no fonts or files from other companies.

We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing.

05Where it is stored

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., which stores form submissions as our data processor. Netlify's servers may be located outside India.

Like any web host, Netlify processes basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. We do not use this data to identify or track you.

06How long we keep it

We delete form data once we no longer need it:

• Beta sign-ups: six months after the app is publicly released, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
• Pilot requests: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.

07Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can, at any time:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• ask us to correct, complete, update or delete it;
• withdraw your consent, as easily as you gave it, by writing to us;
• nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity;
• raise a grievance with us and, if you are not satisfied with our answer, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

08How to make a request or raise a grievance

09Children

Placebo Markets is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

10Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will ask for your consent again.
