01About these terms

These terms apply to this website and the Placebo Markets beta, both run by Dr. Varshith Reddy. By using the website or joining the beta, you agree to them.

02A simulation, not a market

Placebo Markets is a simulation. Every company, price, fund, bond and news story in it is fictional. No real money is involved: you cannot deposit or withdraw money, and nothing you do in Placebo Markets places a trade in any real market.

03Not investment advice

Nothing on this website or in Placebo Markets is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any real security. Simulated results say nothing about results with real money. Make real financial decisions on your own judgement, ideally with a registered adviser.

04Not a medical device

Placebo Markets is not a medical device. It does not screen for, diagnose, treat or cure any condition, including addiction. It is training, not therapy. If you are worried about your trading or gambling, please speak to a doctor or a qualified mental-health professional.

05Who can use it

You must be 18 or over to join the beta or use Placebo Markets. The app, including the beta, requires sign-in with a Google account. Educators running a pilot must make sure their participants meet these requirements.

06The beta

The beta opens in stages; signing up does not guarantee an invite. Beta software may contain errors, may change or stop at any time, and is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve the product without owing you anything for it.

07Using the website fairly

Do not misuse the website or its forms: no spam, no automated sign-ups, no attempts to break, overload or get around its security, and no submitting someone else's details without their permission.

08Ownership

The website, the Placebo Markets name and logo, its text, illustrations and design, and the app are owned by Dr. Varshith Reddy. All rights are reserved. You may share links to the site and write about Placebo Markets. Fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License.

09Limits of responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss arising from your use of this website or the beta, including any decision you make with real money. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be limited.

10Privacy

The privacy notice explains how we handle the details you give us.

11Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date at the top of the page shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction.
